When I bought my first home four years ago, I had a pressure washing company come out and just go over the entire place to make it look clean again. I imagine that the previous owners did not care that there was mold growing on the siding or that the deck was grey but I did not want my first place to look like that.

I remember when my real estate agent told me to meet him there and then told me that it was one of only four houses that were within my price range in the entire city. Since it had no curb appeal what so ever, I was hoping that the inside was immaculate. I was wrong but I could see the potential and bought it anyway. The first call that I made after the signing the closing papers, was to the pressure washing company and explained to them that time was of the essence and the house wash and deck cleaning were what I needed to do.

They met me within twenty minutes of me calling them and set up the house wash and the deck cleaning for the very next day. When I left it, it looked really bad that day, but after the pressure washing company was finished, it looked like a completely different house altogether. It took about four months to make the inside match the outside.

I cannot find my new Hogan shoes that I bought last month. I remember putting them in the closet on the top shelf when I got back from shopping and they are not there. I am really hoping that my daughter did not get into my closet again. They last time that she did that, she ended up losing my new Gucci handbag at some restaurant.

I grounded her for two weeks when she lost the Gucci handbag and it seemed to keep her out of my closet for a little bit. About two weeks after that, she took a different pair of Hogan shoes and I caught her with them before she left the house. I made her take them off, but she was not grounded that time. I am hoping that she learned her lesson. I will have to catch her as soon as she walks into the door.

I am heading back up to the closet one more time to look for the shoes and am hoping that I somehow misplaced them. I found two Gucci handbags that were stuffed under some clothes that I thought I had lost, but cannot locate the new Hogan shoes. They cannot just get up and walk out on their own, so she must have them. This time, she is going to be grounded for about a month to try and teach her the lesson of taking people’s things and not asking.

I am in a network group of business people here in my local community. We meet once a week over breakfast and trade referrals and job leads with one another. It really is a neat way of generating business. It also gives me a list of other service businesses to help my customers out if they are looking for something that I do not provide.

We try to let only one person or business from a particular industry in the group. Last week we were talking with different car insurance companies to try to fill that position in our network. I personally meet with five or six over a week.

I would invite them to the meeting to be there as a guest and then if they liked it they could sign up and lockout their competition; other car insurance companies in this case. I told them that people are always searching for better car insurance rates and that a referral group like this could really help their business.

I did not take long before the car insurance companies wanted to sign on and we had to make a decision as to which one we would let in. It was basically first come first serve, or in this case whichever insurance company wrote the membership fee check the quickest was the one that would get in.

I wanted to help my parents get replacement windows put in and earn the energy tax credit also. They do not understand things like that so I help them with as much as I can. My mother said her old windows let a lot of cold air in during the cold months and she thinks they should cover them with plastic. My father thinks that they are fine and that plastic on the windows would look tacky.

I thought that if I could convince him to have an estimate done and then explain how they could earn the energy tax credit then he would say okay. The company that I called agreed to come and give them an estimate when I could be there the following week. This particular company also explained the energy tax credit to my parents and that was all it took for my father to schedule the installation of the replacement windows. I made sure I was there during the whole process in case my parents did not understand exactly how the work was to be performed.

The company was very professional and I discovered that maybe they did not need me there after all. My mother has since told me that their heating and cooling bills have been almost cut in half by having the replacement windows installed. My father thinks it was his idea and takes all the credit for it. I don’t mind as long as they received the energy tax credit and the replacement windows and they are both happy.
