I Did Sell Old Coins Last Year
03/01/2010
I did sell old coins to the pawn shop last year, but apparently they are not buying at this time. The price of gold and silver has made tons of people sell all the coins that they have and no one is buying. I guess that the owner thinks that if the precious metal prices would actually go down so that the weight of a coin is not worth more than its actual market value then people would start buying again.
I am glad that I was selling coins last year and not this year. I made over two hundred dollars from that pawn shop when I took them just a few old coins that I had in a drawer for year. I knew that one of them was quite valuable, since I actually had paid over fifty dollars for it just ten years ago.
I would call ahead to any store or shop that you might be thinking about selling coins to. It is possible that they are not currently buying, but if they are then at least you will know that it is not going to be a wasted trip. I know that there are a lot of people that have been very disappointed by driving all the way downtown to the pawn shop only to find out the deal. If you are just looking to sell old coins to scrap, then your best bet would be a jewelry store.
