Understanding Port Converters
12/11/2007
Port converters are the hardware that can enable a port to support devices that connects using different architecture port. These converters are useful at times as many new computers do not support legacy ports and using these port converters you can easily connect a legacy port device to your computer.
These port converters are not only computer friendly but also money and time saving too as they help you save the time and money that you would spend in buying a new device that connects to your computer with the available port architecture.
For example the serial USB and USB parallel port converters are use to connect the serial and parallel port devices to your computer’s USB port respectively. Thus computers with only USB port can now be able to connect the parallel and serial port devices with the help of this parallel and serial adapter.
Now the printer you had that use to connect to your old computer with parallel port can be connected to your latest computer, which did not had parallel port, using the USB parallel port adapter. So it not only helped you connect the printer to your computer but also saved you lot of money and time that you would have spent on buying a new printer. Thus these port converters are very necessary at places where it is required to connect the legacy port devices to the latest computers.
