The xseries servers that were being stored in the basement were ruined in the flood. I think that in the mad rush to get out of the office and get home, the whole staff forgot about all the new equipment that was stored downstairs. In the twenty years that our office has been in this building, this is the first time that any water has come in.

Our insurance company has informed us that they will cover the xseries servers but that they will have to consider what they would be worth. We all knew what they would cost new, but that fact that they had been sitting in the basement for about a year, they had depreciated quite a bit. I think that if we get half of the amount of money we paid for the system x servers, we will be lucky.

I guess that we are lucky that they are giving us any money at all for the system x servers and the other computer equipment that was ruined since we did not have flood insurance. We are not in a flood plain and will not be required to have it, but we are doing it anyway after the water has receded and the mess cleaned up.
