Health organizations all over the world strongly support the induction of marijuana seeds in medication and making its use legal. Their logic in this regard is that the seeds have a number of beneficial affects on the patients of traumatic diseases and ailments and could help substantially in reducing their pains. These arguments however have not yet found favor from the Federal Government who continues to declare use of marijuana for medical or any other purposes as illegal. That is why we hear about regular raids on medical marijuana dispensaries by the Drug Enforcement Authorities in United States.

Though the legislature is yet to support the lifting of prohibitions on the use of weed seeds, there have been marked changes in their views in the recent past. While only 94 legislators voted against the ban in 1998 the number of such legislators has increased to 161 in 2006.

Yet the fact remains that marijuana and for that matter the cannabis seeds continue to be classified as Schedule I substance. These are the substances that are defined to have high potential for misuse and abuse without having any medicinal values. Proposals have been coming up from time to time for complete review of the practice and laws relating to scientific research on the subject of use of marijuana for medical purposes.

The Food and Drugs Authorities have not yet rendered a positive response to these demands but the change of trend is quite evident and the time is not far away when the authorities may have to change their stand on this public issue.
