Yes both are industries. Don’t go by the actual definition of industry. If we talk about the amount concerned and the number of people employed (or say, involved), both are big industries. It is different matter that while entertainment is an ethical business, a pickpocket is criminal.

Millions of people are involved in both the businesses. Entertainment industry consists of wide variety of people and its scope is very wide. Entertainment industry is now growing and hence the pick pocketing, thanks of growing party culture, exhibitions and fairs where party entertainers are a hit. These are the places where people gather and these criminals get chance to dupe the visitors.

To target its victim a pick-pocket can do any thing from distracting your attention to slitting your pockets. Protecting yourself from this ever growing problem is really tough. However, there are some basic advices: avoid the most dangerous areas, don’t carry the valuables and money you don’t need at home or at your hotel room, wear deep front pocketed trouser, keep money and other documents at different places, etc.
